John ‘Upryzin’ Curry

Early life music influence began  with Upryzin’s greatest role model & only natural sibling.  My brother’s band, “Morning Star Reggae Band” of Fresno helped edge my sound onto my current musical journey.

Under the guidance of DJ Papa Roots & Dee Jay Spleece, Reality Sound System International” became Upryzin’s first Sound System.  Whether radio station, night club, or music festival, where there’s Reality Sound, there was an Upryzin.

In 2003, while surrounded by wilderness at the Bird Island Festival in Lebanon, Missouri, Upryzin developed a powerful sound self-sufficiency.  Commune living with natural grass roots is Upryzin’s  cup of tea!  That same year, Upryzin joined Unknown Soljahz to record several projects for their label.

There’s something about music in the hills one can only feel and know.  “We Belong” was written during my travels (Hitchhiking from Florida) to Fayetteville, Arkansas where I lived out in the country on 48 acres for 3-5 years — Practically my only way of life.

March 2016 “We Belong” was released as a single.  Written & arranged by John “Upryzin” Curry.

Vchi Studio” allowed me the privilege to take “We Belong” Mp3 audio format and wide angle Upryzin’s step with “We Belong” music video.  CALI-Strong released a write up allowing the world a chance to view Upryzin with different perspectives. A personal interview into the life & music of Upryzin.

During this California native moment in a spotlight with CALI-Strong, Upryzin recorded singles, Stay and Survival with Ayatullah-T, artist and CEO of “BludTyez Entertainment & Gezzy Productions.

This collaboration allowed Upryzin to do video production for local Fresno music artists.  Upryzin began Upryzin Productions & Films to share his different talents and abilities.

Coolin, featuring Upryzin gained quite a bit of regional interest in Fresno, CA. where the song was written & recorded with Otis Reed.   Local radio station, B95 showed support as did many other online radio stations.

Thank you brother Franco. From Arkansas to Florida to where I am, all my family & friends far and wide. Bless.
